Maritime Forces Pacific will host a naval exercise from Monday through Dec. 13 with participation from the Royal Canadian Navy, the Royal Canadian Air Force, U.S. Navy aircraft and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Called Trident Fury 20, the exercise will take place off western Vancouver Island, and in the vicinity of Constance Bank and the southern Gulf Islands. The public might see ships, aircraft and divers around Esquimalt Lagoon.

The public is asked to keep watercraft outside a 100-metre radius from divers and their dive platforms.

Additional activity is set for an area about 70 nautical miles west of Tofino.

Trident Fury 20 is designed to provide tactical warfare training to offshore threats and unlawful acts, and to improve co-ordination between coalition forces.

Measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 are in place.
