Zellers mascot up for grabs

Call it a bear market - three charities have been named as finalists in the race to adopt Zellers' famous mascot Zeddy.

Call it a bear market - three charities have been named as finalists in the race to adopt Zellers' famous mascot Zeddy. Camp Trillium, Autism Ontario and Cystic Fibrosis Canada are the three finalists named by the discount department store to win its cheerful mascot. Fans can watch video pleas from each organization and vote for a winner until Nov. 15, with the victorious charity to be revealed the next day. Introduced in the mid-'80s, Zeddy is a perpetually smiling bear mascot who wears a shock of white hair and a yellow sweater bearing his name. The Hudson's Bay Co. sold leasing rights last year on more than 200 Zellers locations to U.S. retailer Target. The company has since been in the process of shutting down its Zellers brand.
