The company that owns The Weather Network and other specialty media channels in Canada has acquired a California company that provides vehicle traffic reporting for broadcast media and consumers. Pelmorex Media Inc. of Oakville, Ont., announced its acquisition of Beat the Traffic of Santa Clara, Calif., on Tuesday. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed. Pelmorex said it's planning an October launch of Travelers Network, a Canadian service for the Internet and iPhones.
