Transportation Safety Board inspectors were in Mill Bay on Tuesday to inspect a tug that sank off Vancouver’s Wreck Beach last month.

The body of a 61-year-0ld man was recovered after the Oct. 23 sinking.

A marine search operation had been launched after the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre received a mayday distress call from the boat’s operator.

Divers from a Canadian Coast Guard hovercraft located the sunken tug and determined that no one else had been on board.

The vessel, called Green Hornet, was raised on Nov. 8 and delivered to Mill Bay on Tuesday, said TSB spokesperson Hugo Fontaine.

The contractor who retrieved the tug took it to their own yard in Mill Bay, he said.

No cause of the sinking has been released, but winds were strong and waters were rough at the time it occurred.
