Thrifty Foods manager wins green award

Jerry Wyshnowsky, Thrifty Foods' director of energy and the environment, has been awarded an Excellence Award from B.C. Hydro for his role as a Power Smart energy manager.

Jerry Wyshnowsky, Thrifty Foods' director of energy and the environment, has been awarded an Excellence Award from B.C. Hydro for his role as a Power Smart energy manager. "With Jerry leading the charge we have implemented over 100 energy-efficiency projects, saving us 12.5 gigawatt hours," said Jim Dores, general manager of Thrifty Foods. "Each green project moves us closer to our goal of reducing our greenhouse gas emission intensity by 15 per cent by 2013." The award recognizes Thrifty Foods' energy management policy, which commits the organization to $5.8 million in future green projects between now and 2014. Wysh-nowsky was also recognized for partnering with B.C. Hydro Outreach on 12 Power Smart employee engagement events over the last year.
