Oak Bay is pre-qualifying general contractors for a planned upgrading and expansion of the Henderson Recreation Centre. The goal is to add 800 square feet to the centre. Improvements include adding space to the fitness studio and building a dedicated stretching area. Taxpayers are contributing $373,718 through a provincial government grant. The request aims to shortlist three qualified contractors by Oct. 9. Oak Bay plans to put the job to tender to three companies, anticipating that the later tender will close in October. The project is slated to be finished by April.
