Island-raised actor and animal-rights activist Pamela Anderson has put her Malibu, California, home on the market for $7.75 million — and paid her overdue taxes in her hometown.
The former Baywatch TV star owns a five-acre, waterfront property in her hometown of Ladysmith, assessed at $3.4 million.
Taxes on that property, once operated as a holiday cottage by her grandparents, were outstanding in January. A total of $31,000 was due, including $28,619 in taxes, plus a penalty and other charges. At that time, her business manager in Los Angeles said he was looking into the matter because he had thought taxes had been paid.
A tax certificate issued Wednesday by the Town of Ladysmith showed that the debt had been paid.
Anderson partnered with friend and former NHL player Geoff Courtnall to present a redevelopment plan for the property. It has not gone ahead, but the town council approved rezoning in 2008 for an 83-unit residential development.
Anderson’s five-bedroom, three-bathroom Malibu house is listed with Chris Cortazzo, of Coldwell Banker, who specializes in high-end properties. The listing extols its virtues: “Walking distance from all things Malibu, this finely crafted, teak sided home is perfect for the renter wanting to enjoy quiet beach-days while being close to the action.”
Olive trees and lavender grow in the front courtyard of the 1959 home, which has been upgraded with Anderson taking a key role in its design. The 2,752-square-foot house includes a top-of-the-line home theatre, decks, views, a black baby grand piano and a saltwater pool with built-in underwater seats allowing swimmers to sit at the wet bar, the listing states.
“Enjoy the row of teak deck chairs or relax in the huge [teepee] that stands by the pool. Help yourself to figs, avocados, seasonal vegetables and herbs grown on the property.”
The home is high-tech, controllable by iPads. The listing says the home features blonde teak flooring and poured concrete sinks and table tops “connecting the rooms together in a continuous flow.”
