Fresh identity for local IT firm

Victoria information technology firm TP Systems has a new name, look and lease on life as it takes flight on a new path. The 37-year-old company, originally named after its founders John Thompson and Graham Powell, is now called Avocette. CEO Scott Ross said the new name and brand reflect the company’s commitment to client care. “We believe that our personable touch on IT service and excellent products are distinctive,” said Ross. “We collaboratively work with our clients to produce quality solutions to both support and enhance clients systems.” The name is a combination of advocate and the avocet, a shorebird. In the last 10 years, Avocette has carved a niche in the IT field by growing its managed services division with offices in Victoria, Vancouver, China and the U.S. and adding a product integration division, which meant partnering with best-of-breed software product companies across North America. The software partnerships are designed to help the firm grow in the U.S. and expand its public-sector client base.
