The Seahaven townhome development in Sidney is offering a set of wheels to drive home sales.
The 14-unit development has partnered with Three Point Motors to offer a free electric Smart Car as an incentive package to convince buyers now seeing more choices in the real-estate market.
The electric vehicle comes in an EV-ready garage.
“What I’m hearing from many potential buyers in the Sidney area is that energy efficiency and reducing their environmental impact are huge factors in their buying decision right now,” Chace Whitson of Macdonald Realty said.
School official joins law firm
Greater Victoria school district secretary-treasurer Mark Walsh is leaving to join the Victoria office of law firm Pulver Crawford Munroe.
He will be involved with labour, employment and human-rights law.
Walsh’s time at the district began as a trustee 2002 to 2008, while he attended law school. After a few years away, he returned as manager of labour relations in 2012, then moved into the secretary-treasurer position in 2016.
Tenants sign on at Fort and Cook
Abstract Developments has its first three commercial tenants for its Black and White development at the corner of Fort and Cook streets.
The mixed-use project with 75 residential units, expected to be completed in October, now has leases with Bear & Joey, a 60-seat café at the corner of Cook and Meares Street, Hydrate IV Wellness Centre, a naturopathic centre, to be located at 1103 Cook St., and dentist Dr. Craig Siemens, who is building a new general dentistry practice at 1105 Cook St.
“More than 11 years in the making, we believe this development will exceed our original vision to create a new residential and business hub at the historic Fort and Cook intersection,” Abstract chief executive Mike Miller said.
Uptown Browns owners raise a glass
Browns Socialhouse Uptown was recognized as the most successful of 60 Browns location in Canada at the Browns Restaurant Group Awards.
The Franchise of the Year Award went to owners Jeremy Wilson and Norm Wilson, who opened their location in 2016.
“Our entire team has worked very hard to create something special and we’re really proud of this achievement,” Jeremy Wilson said.
Wilson and his team intend to expand to Vic West, where they will open the Island’s first Browns Crafthouse this summer at the corner of Bay Street and Tyee Road. — Times Colonist
CMHC earnings rise in first quarter
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. says its net income increased to a more normalized rate in the first quarter as the country’s economy continued to modestly improve.
The country’s largest mortgage insurer says it earned $394 million for the three months ending March 31, up from $293 million in the same period a year earlier and compared with $370 million in the first quarter of 2017. — CP
