Net sales for the mutual-fund industry totalled $2.1 billion in October as investors bought up balanced and bond funds, according to data compiled by the Investment Funds Institute of Canada. The gains compared with net sales of $1.72 billion in September and $282.5 million in October a year ago. Balanced fund sales totalled $2.16 billion for the most recent month, while bond funds racked up $1.48 billion in net sales.
