An Alberta woman who admitted to uttering threats against an oilfield company has been sentenced to a year of probation.

Kimberly Mildenstein pleaded guilty to the charge when she made a court appearance in Dids-bury, Alta.

The 40-year-old mother faxed a handwritten letter to the Energy Resources Conservation board, threatening to blow up a well and shoot at workers if NAL Resources was allowed to perform fracking operations.

The well is located near Mildenstein's home and court was told she feared for her children's safety as a result of noise from the site and heavy truck traffic on the road.
