The University of Victoria has recently awarded Hughes Condon Marler Architects a contract to provide a planning study for the proposed $7-million high-performance Rugby Academy Centre. UVic is also expected to make a tender call for its Centre for Athletic, Recreation and Special Abilities Centre in early November ... There's a short list of general contractors for the $50-million Oak Bay Secondary School. Three from the list will be asked for a comprehensive proposal sometime this fall. The short-listed companies include Victoria's Farmer Construction, Nanaimo's Heatherbrae Builders and mainland firms Bouygues Building Canada, Lark Projects, Wales McLelland Construction and Yel-lowridge Construction. Construction is expected to start next summer.
