The province is looking for a manager for Emily Carr House in James Bay.

The two-storey 1860s residence, 207 Government St., is a National Historic Site. The property is the childhood home of artist Emily Carr.

“The Rosses who have managed Emily Carr House for over two decades are retiring,” a heritage branch official said.

Curator Jan Ross worked with B.C.’s heritage branch to put together terms of reference to find a short-term operator. Plans call for a long-term operational plan to be developed with community input, the official said.

“Every effort will be made to maintain visitor services during this period although transition between operators may inevitably cause some disruption.”

The one-year contract is seeking proposals to manage and operate the property. The opportunity to apply closes March 5.— Times Colonist
