? After a 65-year absence, the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs will return to Victoria for its annual Fire-Rescue Canada conference in 2015. More than 400 senior managers within emergency services will converge on the Victoria Conference Centre in September 2015 for the meeting, the first of its kind in this city since 1950. Victoria edged Whistler and Kelowna to win the bid to host the conference, thanks to Victoria Fire Chief Jeff Lambert, who presented to the conference selection committee, and VCC senior account executive Susan Erick.

? It is a first, but the Rental Owners and Managers Society of B.C. has already put down its deposit and rent for space at the Westin Bear Mountain Resort for its first ever rental housing conference. The meetings, to be held Nov 22-23, will offer workshops that will bring together rental property owners and managers from around B.C. to focus on education for those who provide homes for nearly one third of British Columbians. The society was founded in Victoria in 1971 and provides advice and assistance, education and representation to 2,400 members with residential rental properties in BC.
