The annual Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards has voted Vancouver Island the top island in Canada and No. 6 in the world. Vancouver Island has remained among the top islands since 2000. A record number of 46,476 readers participated in the 25th annual survey and many Vancouver Island destinations were rated among the best. Victoria was named the No. 3 city in Canada. Among Canadian hotels, the Sooke Harbour House was ranked No. 4, Fairmont Empress Hotel No. 15 and Victoria Regent Hotel No. 18.
Among the top resorts in Canada, Long Beach Lodge was ranked third, Wick-aninnish Inn fourth and the Black Rock Oceanfront Resort No. 17.
"Every resident should be proud that the readers of this very prestigious magazine find our home such a desirable place to visit," said Dave Petryk of Tourism Vancouver Island.
