Accountant named chair of foundation

Chartered accountant Lance Abercrombie is the new chairman of the Victoria Hospitals Foundation, succeeding Island Savings Credit Union president and CEO Rod Dewar.

Chartered accountant Lance Abercrombie is the new chairman of the Victoria Hospitals Foundation, succeeding Island Savings Credit Union president and CEO Rod Dewar. Also taking executive roles are former Victoria Mayor Alan Lowe, principal of Alan Lowe Architect Inc. who was appointed vice chair; Gordon Macatee, president of Macatee Management who was named treasurer; and Cathy Whitehead McIntyre, principal of Strategic Initiatives, who is the new secretary. Continuing to serve are board members Rick Anthony, Oak Bay Police; Manjit Bains, Consumer Protection B.C.; John Madden, B.C. Assessment Authority; and Joe Murphy and Dr.

Dorothy "Sam" Williams, both of Vancouver Island Health Authority. The foundation works with VIHA to raise funds to buy equipment for the Royal Jubilee and Victoria General hospitals. Last year it raised a record $8.4 million.
