The Times Colonist Literacy Society is accepting applications for funding for literacy projects within the Times Colonist delivery area on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.

The society raises money each year for literacy work. Most of the money comes from the annual Times Colonist book drive, which was started in 1998.

The book sale in May raised $245,000, the highest total yet. The provincial government provides additional funding through Decoda Literacy Solutions.

Over the years we have distributed about $6 million. Support from the Times Colonist ensures that the society is able to keep its operating costs as low as possible. Money goes to school libraries, literacy projects and literacy organizations throughout Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.

The deadline for applications is Nov. 30, 2023.
