Vancouver City Hall secrets probed by privacy czar

B.C.’s information and privacy commissioner is probing Vancouver City Hall, The Province has learned.

B.C.’s information and privacy commissioner is probing Vancouver City Hall, The Province has learned.

Commissioner Elizabeth Denham wasn’t available Monday, but according to a statement from her office: “The upcoming project will be focused on the City of Vancouver’s access to information practices. The project has only just been initiated, no timelines have been established.”

City hall spokesman Jag Sandhu said documentation is being provided to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner, but “any questions regarding the assessment including the timeline should be directed to OIPC.”

The probe comes in the wake of Denham’s damning Oct. 22 report on the B.C. government that found a pattern of widespread email deleting in the government, including the Office of Premier Christy Clark.

Earlier this year, one of Denham’s investigators confirmed that Mayor Gregor Robertson’s chief of staff, Mike Magee, also mass-deletes his email.
