Two people are dead after a head-on collision Sunday morning in Surrey.

Police said two cars collided at about 8 a.m. in the 8100-block of King George Boulevard.

“At this point of the investigation, it appears as though both vehicles were occupied by only the drivers.  Both of which passed away at the scene of the crash,” police said in a press release.

“It has not yet been determined as to the cause of the crash,” the release said. “Alcohol, drugs or distracted driving are all being taken into consideration.”

Police have closed King George Boulevard between 80th Avenue and 82 Avenue while police investigate the crash.

Another accident in nearby Delta claimed the life of one person just before 9 a.m. Sunday.

Delta police spokesperson Sharlene Brooks said one person died at the scene after a vehicle and a semi-truck collided at Highway 10 between 104 and 112 Street.

She said traffic is being diverted away from the accident scene as investigators determine what caused the accident.

“We have that part of the road closed,” she said. “It will be closed for several hours with the collision investigators on scene.”

Brooks said they are reminding drivers that at this time of year it can be darker during the day and the roads are often slippery with the wet conditions.

“Drivers need to take their time and be attentive,” she said.
