William Ryan Fisher, 30, began serving a three-year sentence at Pacific Institution in Abbotsford for a variety of charges relating to the 2011 riot on Feb. 19.

Fisher and Russell Jean Milne, 24, had received the most severe punishments handed out to rioters.

Both Fisher and Milne were found guilty of the aggravated assault of a man identified as a "Good Samaritan."

Christopher Leveille was punched, kicked and stomped, leading to a collapsed lung.

His next-of-kin have been notified and there is no word on the cause of death.

An investigation into Fisher's death will be conducted by Corrections Canada and the coroner and police have been informed.
