The B.C. SPCA says Peter Parker the cat must lose his leg after being thrown from a moving vehicle.

The North Peace SPCA is facing a $3,000 vet bill to help rehabilitate an injured cat that officials say was thrown from a moving vehicle.

The tabby was recently brought in by a Good Samaritan after they saw a passenger throw what they thought to be garbage out of the vehicle’s window, officials say. To their shock, they discovered a kitten that was bleeding and unable to move.

The branch now says the cat must have one of its front legs amputated because of its injuries, which have atrophied the limb and shoulder joint.

Staff have named the cat Peter Parker because of his playful personality despite often tripping over his leg.

“Peter Parker is such a sweetheart! He uses his spider-like climbing abilities to reach heights greater than most think he’s capable of, despite his injured leg,” B.C. SPCA North Peace Branch Manager Candace Buchamer said in a statement.

“A Good Samaritan was travelling behind a vehicle in Taylor, B.C., when they saw someone throw something out the window … they expected to see trash, but instead, saw a tiny kitten, unable to move, scratched and bleeding and too weak to stand.”

The branch has waited until the cat was physically able to handle the surgery. The costs for surgery, medication, vaccinations, health checks, and daily care are expected to be up to $3,000.

“Even with the complete disuse of his leg, he runs as fast as any kitten, climbs like a clumsy panther and loses his balance much too often … after each mishap, he looks up, gives a ‘meow’ and then he’s off again,” Buchamer says.

“He’s got the spirit of a superhero and we just want him to have the chance to live out his nine lives in a loving, forever home, which he can most definitely do on three legs.”
