Bruce Alexander is joining Capital Iron in August as sales manager on the lower level of store at 1900 Store St. where gardening products, patio furniture and barbeques are sold. Alexander is also bringing his fencing, gates, gazebos and trellis business with him. He has been offering those products through his Design Source Warehouse, 553 Hillside Ave. Owned by Alexander and his wife, Robyn, since 2009, Design Source will close this month.

Four join board of art gallery

The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria has added four members to its board of directors. Paul Barron is a portfolio manager with Odlum Brown Ltd. and assistant branch manager at the Victoria office. Lynda Gammon is an associate professor emeritus in the visual arts department at the University of Victoria. Lawrence Graham is vice-president of the Union Club of British Columbia as well as president and a founder of the Victoria Whisky Festival. Christopher Jones is an adjunct professor at the University of Victoria and president of the AGGV Foundation. The newcomers join president Ruth Wittenberg, John Kirby, Jackie Hamilton, Anne Russell, Bill Camden, Silvia Bonet, Leslie Hildebrandt, Fiona Hunter, Patti-Anne Kay, Lynne Masse-Danes, Michael Morris, Peita Vandyke, Fran Willis, Lynne Woodruff and David Zaparinuk on the board.

Marriott appoints executive chef

The Victoria Marriott Inner Harbour has appointed Neil Antolin as executive chef. With more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Antolin has held positions in restaurants and hotels in Bermuda, Vancouver, Whistler and Vancouver Island. He worked at the Victoria Marriott in 2004 as a sous chef and then banquet chef. He was most recently the restaurant chef of the Victorian Fine Dining Room at the Delta Ocean Pointe Resort.

Health foundation names Carroll CEO

Veronica Carroll is the new CEO of the Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island. She will start in September. Carroll has an MBA in management consulting and almost two decades of experience as a certified fundraising executive. She was most recently executive director of the Delta Hospital Foundation and CEO of the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation. “We were incredibly impressed by Veronica’s credentials and most importantly her experience and track record as a philanthropic leader,” said Bill Snell, chair of Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island board of directors. Children’s Health Foundation, formerly known as Queen Alexandra Foundation for Children, has a 90-year history of serving children and youth with disabilities and health challenges on Vancouver Island. Over the 2015-2016 fiscal year, Children’s Health Foundation provided funding for 32 programs in 19 organizations.
