VANCOUVER — A three-alarm fire in a vacant warehouse in east Vancouver Sunday involved more than 40 firefighters and took hours to bring under control.

An emergency call came in just after 6 a.m. reporting that the two-storey warehouse at 730 Terminal Ave. was engulfed in flames, according to Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services.

Crews were forced to fight the blaze from outside the building as “the fire intensified and burned its way through the roof,” the department said.

Just before noon, heavy equipment was brought in to demolish what remained of the building to put out spot fires and smouldering ash.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire had not been determined as of Sunday afternoon.
