The first day of November heralded the first snowfall of the season on North Shore mountains, a sign that winter is just around the corner.

Grouse Mountain received two centimetres of the flaky white stuff by noon Sunday.

“We cannot wait for the start of skiing and riding season, and the arrival of the first snowfall means we’re that much closer to hitting the slopes,” said Grant Wahl, Grouse Mountain alpine operations manager.

Grouse has invested $500,000 in its snowmaking equipment to increase output by more than 40 per cent this season.

Meanwhile, rain at lower elevations flooded some streets in Vancouver.
