There was another shooting in Surrey overnight, making it the fifth targeted shooting in two days in that city.

In the latest incident, Surrey RCMP say shortly before midnight, emergency crews were called about a shooting in the 19300-block of 80th Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a 28-year-old man, a resident of Langley, suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body.

The man was transported to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries but was in stable condition. He is known to police.

Surrey Mounties say the victim has indicated that he was shot in a vehicle in another unknown location, and then dropped on the road in the location where he is found. It appears that this was a targeted shooting, added RCMP.

Surrey RCMP said Wednesday that investigators were concerned about four targeted shootings in less than two days that left at least two people injured.

RCMP spokesman Sgt. Dale Carr said he is deeply concerned about the shootings, which police believe are targeted and linked.

He said there’s “some sort of heated battle going on,” but police don’t know the reason for the shooting spree.

It began at 4 a.m. on Tuesday, when police were called to Surrey Memorial Hospital where a 20-year-old man was being treated for gunshot wounds. Then later that evening police seized an abandoned vehicle used in the shooting and an hour later another man, a 21 year old, was shot near 127th Street and 78th Avenue.

At 11 p.m. that night, shots were fired near 128th Street and 76th Avenue but there were no apparent victims. Then on Wednesday at 2 p.m., more shots were fired at 80th Avenue, and again no victims were identified.
