The B.C. Conservation Officer Service is on the lookout for a coyote that attacked four people  in downtown Prince George early Tuesday.

The coyote bit four people, all of whom are unhoused, between 3:45 and 4:30 a.m. Three had wounds significant enough to require medical attention at hospital.

Conservation officers searched Parkwood Mall, Connaught Hill and the downtown business district area for the coyote but were unable to find it.

Conservation officer Eamon McArthur said coyotes typically do not display aggressive behaviour toward humans and it is likely the animal has lost its fear of people because it had been fed.

“There are definitely humans providing food to this animal,” McArthur said.

Anybody who sees the coyote is asked to call the B.C. Conservation office at 1-877-952-7277.
