Are you associated with or running as part of a slate? If so, which one?

Independent Incumbent

Do you live in the municipality where you are running, and if so, for how long? If not, what is your connection to that community?

I have lived in the Cowichan Valley for 33 years, residing in Cobble Hill, Duncan, Mill Bay, and North Cowichan

What is your occupation, and for how long?

I am retired from my 37.5 year career at the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia, i currently hold a position of Pension Trustee on the MoveUP/ICBC Pension Board of trustees, I have been elected on Duncan City Council 4 times for a total of 14 years

Tell us about your previous elected and/or community experience.

I have been elected for 4 terms on Duncan City council, my previous occupation with ICBC provided me with a background of public service, I was active in my Union and received education in Budgeting, Bylaws and Policy and I use this education in my current role as City Councillor

Why are you running? What’s your motivation?

I want to continue to use my education and experience at the City council table

What are your top three issues?

my goals for this term are 1. Implementing our renewed Official Community and Transportation Plans, 2. Renew and refresh our Tourism Marketing Plan, I have been the Chair of the Tourism Advisory Committee for several years, 3. Continue collaboration with Provincial and Federal governments to find homelessness and addiction solutions for our community

What’s your vision for your community in 25 years?

our City continues to be the hub of the Cowichan Valley, our council needs to manage development and growth as we continue to be a popular place for retirement and a walkable City with centralized community services

What’s one “big idea” you have for your community?

the Cowichan Valley is in the process of construction of a new high school and construction will soon commence on a new hospital, there is a plan for a University village concept for the old high school site and I would like to see that plan implemented, also, our old hospital site could be repurposed for a rehabilitation Center
