Are you associated with or running as part of a slate? If so, which one?

I am not associated with or running as part of a slate. I am running independently.

Do you live in the municipality where you are running, and if so, for how long? If not, what is your connection to that community?

I live very close to Oak Bay, I live in Victoria very close to the border line between Victoria and Oak Bay. I enjoy the Oak Bay Community; it’s a very beautiful and quiet place. I do much of my shopping in Oak Bay. I also come to Oak Bay to enjoy the parks.

What is your occupation, and for how long?

For the last 15 years on and off I have worked as either a Network Administrator or a Teacher. I enjoy teaching Computers for Business Applications, Politics and History. I also look after my partner who has cancer.

Tell us about your previous elected and/or community experience.

In previous years when I was at VIU in Nanaimo I was the CUPE Executive membership secretary. In that role I was responsible for helping the union with the voting on CUPE local bylaw legislation. Plus I was responsible for helping vote on by-laws at the CUPE international level.

Why are you running? What’s your motivation?

Oak Bay is an amazing community and it has an amazing group of people that I would like to work with. I would like to help improve the community in several different ways such as more green initiatives. Helping make the sidewalks more user friendly for wheelchairs. Another thing I would like to do is help the district come up with more affordable housing options plus I would also like to help with other initiatives such as fixing the cracks in the roads.

What are your top three issues?

They are as follows;

1. More affordable housing options are needed.

2. Fixing the sidewalks and making them more wheelchair friendly and fixing the cracks in the road.

3. Coming up with more green initiatives.

What’s your vision for your community in 25 years?

My vision for the community over the next 25 years is as follows. A much greener more environmentally friendly Oak Bay. Streets with nicer sidewalks for disability access for devices such as walkers and wheelchairs. I would also like to more security and a higher frequency of increased local transit services going to and from Oak Bay.

What’s one “big idea” you have for your community?

I would like to come up with ways helping the community work towards more greener initiatives. I would like to help find funding to fix the sidewalks and the roads in the community. I would like to make the sidewalks in the community better for wheelchair access and further to that. I would like to increase the frequency of bus service going from Oak Bay to Victoria.
