Are you associated with or running as part of a slate? If so, which one?

No

Do you live in the municipality where you are running, and if so, for how long? If not, what is your connection to that community?

I have lived here all my life I’m a third generation resident.

What is your occupation, and for how long?

I work for Indigenous Services Canada, previously I started a business and then was brought on to develop another.

Tell us about your previous elected and/or community experience.

Jordan works for Indigenous Services Canada, sits on the Arts Culture and Heritage advisory committee, ran in the last federal election with the Green Party of Canada in Northern Alberta and previously developed multiple local businesses.

Why are you running? What’s your motivation?

Jordan MacDougall is running for Saanich council and CRD because he wants to continue living here and hopes to share his love of Saanich with his future family; however, this is proving difficult to envision. He does not want to wait till he is 50 to have a role in planing the future of his home.

What are your top three issues?

Housing affordability

Infrastructure

Fiscal responsibility and regulatory transparency.

What’s your vision for your community in 25 years?

In the next four years, Jordan is looking to push Saanich towards a home that incorporates forward-thinking infrastructure, affordable and green homes, and greater transportation options. He hopes to limit tax hikes for residents and enforce decisions that make rational business sense. In addition, he aims to make Saanich mental health friendly, while focusing on the critical work of decolonization and reconciliation. These aspects should add to a growing, vibrant, and balanced economy of our community.

What’s one “big idea” you have for your community?

Integrating permaculture forest designs into our “dead grass areas” and eliminating the need for monthly maintenance.
