Re. Finding a home for Camden’s dogs (Coast Reporter, April 12)

After reading the article about my son, I needed to share Cam’s wishes.

Cam fell in love with many dogs at the sanctuary in Huanchaco and initially wanted to bring one home.

He soon realized that this was not an optimal solution. Many of these dogs are older. The travel and related stress would be too much for the dogs and they very likely would not survive the long journey to Canada. Cam soon witnessed that the dogs were well taken care of and had a safe home in Peru. He was completely opposed to removing them from their home, environment and friends in the sanctuary.

If you want to help, the best way is to donate directly to the sanctuary so that they can remain open.

The sanctuary owner has been working tirelessly to keep the shelter running for all 43 dogs living there. Visit esperanzacanina.com to donate.

Sincerely,

Suzanne Matovic
