We still require a permanent blood donor clinic in Powell River.

This initiative by Jane Short is much appreciated [“qathet Blood Donors Group makes giving easier,” May 6]. It still falls short of the need for Canadian Blood Services to actually bring the mobile clinic to Powell River on the Little River to Westview Terminal ferry run.

The walk-on tokens BC Ferries has offered is a small step to what BC Ferries is capable of doing, exonerating the total cost of the return trip for the mobile blood donor clinic and its representatives. This would only be four times a year and can be arranged for the shoulder and low seasons so it doesn't interfere with tourists filling the ferry.

I truly believe that this will work and all it takes is to get it done. We Powell Riverites are waiting for you, Canadian Blood Services.
