Learning how to make natural inks from vegetables, nature walks and removing invasive species are some of the free activities Richmondites can try out for Earth Week.

Earth Week celebrations in Richmond will take place from April 20 to 28 this year and more than 30 free activities will be available.

Community members will get to engage in sustainable environmental practices and learn more about nature and local ecology through these family-friendly activities, which also include nature photography workshops, a film screening of The Lorax and soap making.

On Saturday, April 20, Cambie Community Centre will be hosting an Earth Day celebration featuring children's crafts, electronic recycling and a textile repair fair.

Meanwhile, Richmond Nature Park will be showcasing the work of storyteller, artist and Kwakwaka'wakw historian Simon James, including his show Raven Tales.

To wrap up Earth Week in Richmond, the Lower Mainland Green Team is holding a two-part event to remove invasive cultivated blueberries and restore bog habitat at Richmond Nature Park. Spots are currently limited to 25 participants per session but those interested are encouraged to sign up for the waitlist.

A full list of Earth Week activities can be found on the City of Richmond's website.
