The results are in and School District 46 Trustee Electoral Area 1 (Upper) has a new trustee: Tracey Lynn McClelland.
On Nov. 11, the campaign period began for the two candidates, Tracey Lynn McClelland and Jay Dean O’Keeffe.
Advanced poll dates were held on Nov. 29 and Dec. 6, and mail in ballots were made available as well.
General voting day was Dec. 9, at Coopers Green Hall in Halfmoon Bay and the official results were posted on Dec. 11 by the school district.
A total of 141 votes were cast, with 106 going to McClelland and 35 to O’Keeffe.
“I’m really excited. It was nice to go through the whole process and feel the support of the community. Honestly, for both Jay and I, he was really nice,” McClelland said. “But certainly in hearing the results, I was really happy to feel that support on the back end of the election that translated into votes.”
McClelland said that after she settles into the position, her focus will be on communication, identifying and addressing gaps in the chain of communication that others may not see at this point.
Stephanie Murawsky, communications officer at School District 46, confirmed that McClelland will be sworn into her position at the Jan. 10 regular board meeting.
In a follow-up email to Coast Reporter, Amanda Amaral, School District 46 Board chair said,“We are thrilled to have Tracey join us at the board table and look forward to welcoming her in January!”
“I'm really looking forward to being part of the team at the district. It's exciting,” McClelland said.
