Checking out the aftermath of the wall collapse.

Let’s head back to July of 1968 when businesses at the South Delta Square shopping centre in Tsawwassen had a big scare.

While it wasn’t an earthquake, the business owners could be excused if they thought so when a wall collapsed at Jack’s TV & Radio.

Excavations for a sewer installation paralleling the wall were smoothly underway when something suddenly let go, and the earth under the foundation gave way and down came the wall.

The estimated cost of the repairs was not reported.

While the TV shop was forced to close for a while, owner Jack Leamont said service calls would be handled as usual.
