The Coquitlam Express and Alberni Valley Bulldogs will play again Tuesday, April 16, to determine who wins their best-of-seven BC Hockey League playoff series.

The Bulldogs defeated the Express 3-1 Saturday at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex to even the series 3-3 and force the decisive seventh game.

Visiting Alberni Valley got all the goals they needed in the first period when Jacob Terpstra scored 9:39 after the opening faceoff and Hayden Stavroff connected just 34 seconds before the intermission.

Jake Manfre got Coquitlam back into the game with his third of the post season at 18:04 of the second period.

The Express dominated play in the third as they pressed for the equalizer. But despite a 20-6 advantage in shots, they couldn’t get another puck past Bulldogs goalie Callum Tung.

Braxton Buckberger’s goal into an empty net ensured the teams would have another ferry ride.

Tung finished the game with 41 saves while Coquitlam’s Adam Manji stopped 29 of the 31 shots he faced.
