V2V Vacations is offering deals for B.C. residents for travel between Vancouver and Victoria.

The move is a shift away from the tourist market, which the company heavily targeted at the time of its launch in May, 2017. From now until Oct. 31, B.C. residents can purchase a Salish Pass, which entitles locals sizable savings on tickets for the remainder of its 2019 season.

B.C. residents can now book four one-way trips for $299 on the premium service, representing a 33 per cent saving, and gain an additional 50 per cent off all further adult bookings in Royal and Premium Class for the remainder of the year. Recipients will also gain the first offer of a season pass for 2020.

Julian Wright, general manager of V2V Vacations, says the move was taken in response to customer demand.

“We received a large amount of feedback through our guests from British Columbia, that our premium service is the convenient and comfortable connection between Vancouver and Victoria that they have been wishing for, however they want a cost effective way to take advantage of the trip on a regular basis,” Wright said in a news release. “It inspired us to develop the Salish Pass, exclusively for B.C. residents to benefit from our daily service.”

V2V is the only cruise boat that connects the centre of Vancouver and Victoria’s historic Inner Harbour. A travel time of less than three hours and thirty minutes aboard the 242-seat V2V Empress, offers a comfortable alternative to the car ferry that operates from outside both cities.

The luxury catamaran cruises under the Lions Gate Bridge before crossing the Strait of Georgia and navigating the Southern Gulf Islands offering views of Mayne, Galiano, Salt Spring, Saturna and North and South Pender Islands. The length of the cruise and it’s route are some of the reasons the V2V is so popular with tourists.

Aboard the V2V Empress, complimentary services include Wi-Fi, leather seating, one carry-on and one piece of luggage, and access to the sundeck, which is ideal for wildlife spotting. Meanwhile, the thoughtful on-board menu features fresh local foods, B.C. wines and local craft beers.

The Salish Pass is named after the Salish Sea, which is a combination of three bodies of water, the Strait of Georgia, the Juan de Fuca Strait and Puget Sound. The name honours and recognizes the unceded territory of the Coast Salish nations.

The Salish Pass includes:

  •  Four premium tickets for four individual sailings
  •  50 per cent off adult bookings for Royal Class and Premium Class trips for the remainder of the year.
  •   First dibs on season passes for 2020
