Frigid weather shuts down service at major Metro Vancouver SkyTrain stations

TransLink announced that there is no service on the Expo Line between Columbia Station and Lougheed station as of 8:30 am on Monday, Feb. 11.

The transit authority notes that riders will have to use a shuttle train between the two SkyTrain stations, and therefore will need to allow for additional time during their commute.

In addition, TransLink adds that there are a number of delays on buses across Metro Vancouver. What’s more, a number of these delays are nearly half an hour long.

TransLink notes that there are delays on both the Expo and Millennium SkyTrain Lines, which they attribute to the frigid weather. They also add that many trains are being driven manually in particular areas. As a result, riders are warned that they should allow additional time for travel.

Just hours after Environment Canada lifted one snowfall warning for the region, a second has been issued as the weather office warns of “a long period of snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 15 centimetres expected.”
