Delta taxpayers shouldn’t subsidize E/V owners

Firstly, I must state that I fully support the proposal to install E/V charge stations at City of Delta facilities and support all other City of Delta green initiatives. But I do have serious concerns regarding a key portion of the proposal.

My concerns are the ongoing operational costs, $4,000 operating cost and unknown charging cost of $.50 per hour may not be much in the big scheme of things, but is a nasty precedent.

Is it not enough that those fortunate enough to be able to afford an E/V are not subject to the provincial/regional road and transit taxes that are charged at the pump? Now this proposal will be subsidizing the normal operational cost for those fortunate few by the taxpayers of the City of Delta.

I feel this part of the proposal must be modified and ongoing operational cost must be user funded.
