The Watson Centre Society for Brain Health reopens tonight (Aug. 8) with a special guest with a special story.
Canadian Olympic boxing legend Dale Walters will be on hand as the centre celebrates its new space to continue providing help for people suffering with brain injuries, improve their quality of life and recuperate from concussion symptoms.
The Watson Centre, located at Fortius Sport and Health, 3713 Kensington Ave., has helped people suffering from brain injuries for the past three years, seeing a significant 77 per cent of clients return to work. Its clientele come from all backgrounds but share the debilitating symptoms of a concussion.
Visitors and attendees can expect clients telling their stories, as well as a panel discussion on mental health and concussions. People will be able to schedule a trial and assessment session, and learn how the program has worked with those suffering from head injuries to improve their lives.
In Canada, over 1.5 million individuals are living with concussions, and at least half of these people continue to live with chronic, disabling conditions.
The event runs from 6 to 8 p.m.
