Thank you City of Burnaby for the completion of pathways around Central Park, along Boundary Road and Patterson Avenue.

Since those pathways have been available, it's heartwarming to see more walkers and joggers using them.

I have to say, that's not really a surprise to me because people do need and value social infrastructures, facilities and services. Pathways, more lighting are simple recipes that make a real difference and help building strong, vibrant communities and safer environment.

More lighted and busy pathways might have prevented the horrible crime that happened two years ago, when a little girl was found dead in Central Park.

I am now expecting the next step to extend the pathway south of Central Park, along Imperial Street.

I hope the city will use the same material used for the previous ones, since it makes those trails very comfortable for walking and jogging.

Needless to say, I hope lighting will be improved so that would be another incentive to using those pathways.

Of course, those pathways require money that is coming from taxes. Truth is, people are quite comfortable in paying their taxes, especially when they see things happening in their life.

By the way, I hope people stop calling folks doing their duty, as "taxpayers" and rather refer to them as "social investors" because these are citizens investing their money to create the real wealth - that is social well-being.
