The shooter in Gilroy, California would have killed many more people if the police had had to run to their vehicles to get their weapons. Also, be realistic, the law breakers are now much more likely to be armed with semi-auto or full-auto weapons.
In order to protect us, our police need equal armament. Unfortunately, this is the new reality that we live in.
