Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for July 25 to Aug. 1:

A visitor to the Coast reported that while staying at a waterfront accommodation in the Selma Park area on July 25, he looked out at around 11 p.m. and noticed a large drone hovering outside the bathroom window that had a blinking red light. The visitor indicated that he had seen the drone at which point the drone turned and flew away. Unfortunately, the visitor could not see where it went from there.

Capsized Crabbers

On Aug. 1 at about 2 p.m., police received a call that two people were clinging to a capsized dinghy in the water off the shore of the 5000 block of Sunshine Coast Highway. Police attended the Selma Park boat launch and could see the two males quite far from shore. A small boat that was in the area had rowed over to them but was too small to rescue them. A local resident who was at the boat launch took one of the police officers out in his boat to rescue the two tired males. The males in their 40s were wearing life jackets and did not suffer any injuries.

Scam

• On July 31, a Coast resident reported that she’d fallen for a computer fraud after agreeing to pay for some tech support that appeared to be associated to a major Internet company. The resident then started noticing that her computer and email account were acting up even more after she paid for a service package and then gave the “tech” access to her passwords. The resident has since taken her computer to a local shop for servicing. Collision

• On July 30, police attended a two-vehicle incident in the 5200 block of Highway 101, Sechelt, after a vehicle attempted to leave a driveway and make a left turn into the northbound lane of the highway and collided with a second vehicle that was heading south. The first driver advised he didn’t see the second vehicle coming as his view was obstructed by a vehicle parked on the side of the road to the west of him. Both vehicles had to be towed due to damage and both drivers reported non-life-threatening injuries. The matter has been referred to ICBC.
