Powell River Kings fall to Vernon Vipers at Hap Parker Arena

Powell River Kings fought back from one-goal deficits in the first and second periods, and took the lead briefly in the third, before the visiting Vernon Vipers tied the game 24 seconds later with the first of three unanswered goals enroute to a 5-3 win in a BC Hockey League contest on Friday, October 25.

The winning goal for the Interior Division team came on a penalty shot nine minutes into the third period when Logan Cash beat Kings’ goaltender Derek Krall, who faced 33 shots overall and made 28 saves on the night.

Levi Glasman, Dawson McKay and PJ Garrett scored for the Kings. Garrett also picked up an assist on McKay’s sixth of the season.

Attendance at Hap Parker Arena was 1,155.

Powell River currently sits fourth in Island Division standings, six points behind Nanaimo and Cowichan Valley, who share first place with 22 points each, and two points ahead of Victoria, who hold one game in hand on the Kings.

Powell River embarks on a three-game road trip next weekend, with stops in Cowichan (November 1), Alberni Valley (November 2) and Nanaimo (November 3), before hosting five straight games at home beginning Friday, November 8, against West Kelowna Warriors.
