We don’t need a Taj Mahal

I have to say how angry I am at the district of Sechelt wanting to borrow $3.8 million to build a Taj Mahal at the top of Dusty Road. This loan will take 20 years for us taxpayers to pay back. Is it not reasonable to spend the $800,000 we have to put up a building? Quonset hut or portable could meet the needs.

Since the start of COVID, groceries have increased 30 per cent. People have lost their jobs! We cannot afford a $3.8-million building to keep 18 employees warm and dry. I highly recommend the District of Sechelt move forward with the least expensive option. I’m sure an adequate building can be built without exceeding $800,000.

We have a deadline of Feb. 26 to get our No votes into city hall. We need an estimated 860 No votes to stop this waste of our money. It seems unwise to proceed with this project as it is way too costly for us to afford.

Please quit using our tax dollars like an unlimited piggy bank.
