The Coastbusters will be ready for action on Saturday, Oct. 26 in Lower Gibsons.

Gibsons’ annual Halloween Block Party takes place on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. Last year’s event was the biggest Halloween celebration on the Coast, and this year looks to be even larger. Hosted by the Arts Building, Gibsons Public Library, Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives and Tapworks Brewing Company, there will be spooky fun for ghouls and ghosts of all ages throughout Lower Gibsons. Driftwood Players will perform Coastbusters outside the museum featuring a Ghostbusters wagon, and cameo by a local politician playing the mayor. Who you gonna call?

Inside the Haunted Museum, visit the Ghostly Graveyard with Susan Rule and Trudi Ambrieul, and enjoy cutting-edge 3D spectral projections by Bruce Devereux upstairs. Enter a costume contest at the Arts Building, try your hand at shadow puppet making, and enjoy a Shadow Show with Sandy Buck. A spooky snack bar will offer terrifyingly delicious treats to fuel your creativity.

New this year, the Gibsons Lantern Festival will illuminate outdoor locations with festive lantern installations. At the Gibsons Public Library, take part in a treat and treasure hunt within faintly lit stacks, while Coast Streaming (Mieke Jay and Steve Weave) provide atmospheric music and projections. Freaky Fiction will feature readings by young writers (Grade 6+) who participated in the library’s scary-story writing program.

Join the after-party at Tapworks Brewing Company that will be hosting a costume party with DJ Cronneloctopus from 9 p.m. to late. Free entry with a costume.

The Halloween Block Party is by donation, and will take place rain or shine (there will be tents set up for inclement weather). Pick up an event schedule at the Museum or Arts Building and join the fun.

This event is generously sponsored by the Sunshine Coast Credit Union, Coast Reporter and Enchanted Toys and Games; thanks to SuperValu for providing treats. For more info visit: sunshinecoastmusuem.ca
