HMB Elementary School is looking for volunteer readers. If this is of interest to you, contact [email protected].

Capilano Highway Services will be closing part of Redrooffs Road in front of Coopers Green Hall from Sept. 3 to 6 to upgrade culverts. This will affect the school busing during that time. If you live north of Coopers Green, your child can get picked up and dropped off by the bus just past the mailboxes near the exit to the highway. If you live between Francis Road and Coopers Green, the buses will not be able to pick up your child, resulting in other arrangements having to be made to get your child to and from school on those days. There is not a safe place for buses to turn around on that stretch of the road.

The school apologizes for the inconvenience this may cause but appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Please be vigilant. Between last Tuesday night and Thursday morning, gas was siphoned from a truck on Coopers Road. If you see any suspicious behaviour, please call local RCMP at 604-885-2266.

Halfmoon Bay Elem-entary School and the Sechelt Library are jointly holding a Lobster Fest fundraiser. The school is raising funds for a playground structure that offers children with diverse abilities the opportunity to play alongside one another. Tickets ($100 each) will be available at the school office starting Aug. 26.

The Lobster Fest will be held at Rockwater Secret Cove Resort on Saturday, Sept. 28. Doors open at 4 p.m.; dinner is at 5 p.m. There will be door prizes, a 50/50 draw and a silent auction. Contact the school for more information.

AppleFest is scheduled for Oct. 19 and 20. Please contact Terry Knight at [email protected] if you would like to be a vendor, to volunteer or for more information.

To have your say at the Bay, contact me before 5 p.m. Monday at [email protected] or 604-885-5034.
