Nolan Welsh did it again.

The 20-year-old Prince George Spruce Kings captain scored the only goal of the second period Saturday night in Victoria to lift the Kings to a 2-1 win over the Victoria Grizzlies.

It was the second game-winning goal and sixth point in four games for Welsh since he returned to action from a hip injury.

Nick Poisson opened the scoring for the Kings in the first period, while Andrew Amousse countered for Victoria in the third period.

Jett Alexander was sharp in the Kings nets, stopping 37 of 38 shots. Kings winger Chong Min Lee earned first-star honours with two assists. Joe Howe took the loss in goal for the Grizzlies, making 27 saves.

The win improved the Spruce Kings’ record to 6-8-2-1 and they remained fourth in the B.C. Hockey Leagues Mainland Division, just one point behind the third-place Langley Rivermen.

The Spruce Kings, who started their roadtrip with a 4- loss Thursday in Powell River, will try for their second win of the weekend Sunday afternoon in Duncan, where they’ll take on the Cowichan Valley Capitals (10-7-1-1-, second in Island Division).
