Student Life: Taking care of our bodies and minds

You’ve heard it all before, parents sound like a broken record every time they say it, but they’re not wrong; we have to take care of our body.

You’ve heard it all before, parents sound like a broken record every time they say it, but they’re not wrong; we have to take care of our body.

It’s easy to get caught up with all the noise and stress and forget to eat properly, get enough sleep, and give ourselves a little self-care. But neglecting those things can take a toll on our bodies and our minds.

We overwork ourselves and start to feel fatigued, our heads get a little fuzzy and we lose focus; motivation becomes almost non-existent.

If we don’t listen to ourselves and continue pushing our bodies to the limit, we stop being able to function properly. It can’t always be “go go go.” Sometimes we have to take a moment to sit back and breathe.

Getting enough sleep is vital. As teenagers, we want to stay up late and sleep in, but instead, we find ourselves up late and having to wake up early in the morning for school. We’re growing and without enough shut-eye, we’ll have a hard time keeping it together.

Our eating habits also play an important role. Once again, we won’t have any energy if we don’t eat full meals throughout the day.

It’s important that we listen to our bodies and take care of ourselves mentally and physically. Fulfilling our basic needs can do a lot to ease our stress and enhance our focus.
