Four fabulously flawed oddballs meet again in their local watering hole – and you’re invited.

Way Off-Broadway Wednesdays returns to the Heritage Grill backroom on Feb. 20 with Episode 2 of The Dive.

The sitcom-inspired show is a new collaborative creation from Morris Bartlett, Allison Melech, Al Lafrance and Devon More.

“It’s like watching a postmodern mockumentary of Cheers,” as a press release describes it.

This episode brings the foursome – a server with multiple personalities, a bartender whose mind is lost in the gutter, an open mic host with an ego too big for the small stage, and a customer with a new conspiracy theory for every day of the week – together in the aftermath of Valentine’s Day, and it features a guest musical performance by Matthew Ariaratnam.

The fun continues with Episode 3 on March 27 and Episode 4 – the season finale – on April 24.

In the meantime, keep your eyes open for the rest of the Way Off-Broadway Wednesdays lineup.

On Feb. 27, audiences can take part in the next instalment of the Script Tease series. As an event description notes, the Script Tease series gives playwrights a chance to present their new works in progress – read by members of the audience, who have a chance to take part in the reading if they would like to put their name into the hat for the evening. This month’s edition features Toxic, by Nicholas Yee, a play exploring toxic masculinity through the lens of combat sports.

Audiences may remember Yee from his performance in the millennial fairytale farce Princest, which ran as part of Way Off-Broadway Wednesdays in January. For this reading, he’ll read some of his latest work, alongside audience volunteers.

The following week, on March 6, audiences can check out Hits Like a Girl, a preview performance of new songs, poems, and stories that will become Devon More’s 2019 Fringe show.

There will be a talkback after the performance to allow the audience to share thoughts about the work-in-development.

Plus, Way Off-Broadway Wednesdays has issued a call for storytellers to participate in its first ever New West Story Slam, scheduled for March 20. Storytellers need to submit their names by Feb. 28 at 9 p.m. to get into the draw for one of seven spots. You can find all the details at WOW’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/wayoffwed.

Way Off-Broadway Wednesdays shows start at 7 p.m., and doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is pay-what-you-want, but reservations are recommended at 604-759-0819. Heritage Grill is at 447 Columbia St.
