Spiritually Speaking

Not since 2018 has the Christian Holy Day of Ash Wednesday fallen on Valentine’s Day. It provides us with a different perspective on both important days and how they are connected.

A Christmas gift of a copy of the international bestseller, The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity, by David Graeber and David Wengrow set me thinking.

I’ve long believed that a key responsibility is to support and encourage both ourselves and others, but to bless them lifts our thoughts higher.

I have learned that each one of us determines what is traumatic in our world. The healthy response to that trauma is to grieve. Successful navigation of grief involves acknowledging feelings, letting them be heard, validated and attended to.

This year can be different to last year if we consistently use this one simple ingredient in our daily activities.

From every indication, the present economic system in much of the world has failed to distribute wealth justly and equitably.

It is encouraging to think that a ‘Mother’ image of God can be known along with a ‘Father’ image of God, our ‘Holy Parent’.

How do we add furniture, artwork, paint colours to our homes? What are our ideas about decor? Is it haphazard? An interior designer decor? Or something else more personal, maybe spiritual?
